Special needs bus

A special needs bus is a bus suitable for the transportation of people with handicaps and in wheelchairs. These are similar to paratransit buses, but full-sized.

In some cases, these are school buses adapted for the transportation of handicapped school children. Otherwise, we refer to them as specials.




Special needs buses are often operated by charity organizations, such as this British Van Hool.

Many public transport buses -such as this one- have wheel chair lifts or ramps, but that does not make them special needs buses.
